Alaska Airlines has launched an award sale for fall travel to Mexico, Belize, and Costa Rica from Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose, and Seattle.

Mileage Plan award travel on these routes starts at 7,500 miles each way and is available for bookings for two days only through July 27, 2023.

There are some blackout dates, and discounted award travel is generally available on the slowest weekdays.

Travel from San Diego (SAN) to Puerto Vallarta (PVR) starts August 20,2023 and is valid Saturdays and Sundays only through September 30, 2023, then Sundays and Wednesday October 1, 2023 through November 12, 2023, then Sundays and Mondays through December 13, 2023. Blackout dates are from November 15, 2023 to November 22, 2023. Seats are limited and may not be available on all flights or all days. Conclusion

These award rates are reasonable, although the ex-Mexico taxes are on the high side.

I spent four months in Mexico in 2021 and need to get back for an extended period next year, although I have had a few briefer visits since.
